Sonny's Garage

Sonny's Garage

This painting has a double significance.
The original intended purpose is to pay tribute to the achievements of Dr. Warren "Sonny" Jackman, of the University of Oklahoma, who, with an all-star cast of colleagues and affiliated referral centers, pioneered, validated, and continues to push the vanguard of interventional electrophysiology.
The second purpose was serendipitous. Robert, a friend and fellow medical student here at the UW, has a friend in southern California who recently had had bypass surgery. Robert requested a print of this painting to send to his friend back home--whose name is Sonny and who runs a garage!
The cattle egret, a prominent and handsome plains-dweller, protects and feeds its hatchlings in the pulmonary trunk. The ubiquitous summer blossoms of Clematis jackmanii trace the specialized conduction system from the hand (right-hand rule of cardiac folding) in the RA.
The sign in the window of Sonny's Garage (next to the red Model T) advertises "Spark Plugs". The left atrium mill with its mitral water-wheel enlivens the heart with its motion and fills the ventricle. Tiny purple mushrooms grow in the dry upland pine woods of the SVC.
