As the ginkgo is a living fossil, so here is shown the ancient but remarkably complex kidney. Each leaf of the ginkgo tree contains 2 to 4 lobules, which make it resemble a part of the kidney.

In between the two is a kidney stone. Ginkgos, like kidneys, are known to bring long life.
